Apple's Response (Again)February 15, 2012

84I heard from Apple’s developer relations personnel today and finally got a response regarding Taposé’s status. Apple pivoted from the appeal board decision and again decided that Taposé was in violation of rule 10.4. However, this time Apple was much more helpful in vocalizing what areas concerned them, which will help get Taposé altered quickly.
Although there were no specifics mentioned, and exactly the right questions had to be asked to get a good answer, but I am confident the issue has been accurately determined. Apple’s 10.4 rule regarding widgets is very subjective, and even the reviewers could not all agree whether Taposé was violating this rule or not. Hence the reason for Apple’s LONG review time. Apple’s management finally stepped in and indicated that the Calendar and Reminders sections of Taposé’s Control Hub were clearly widgets and could not be approved with these present. Putting myself in Apple’s shoes, I can’t say that I disagree.
Since Taposé has been in Apple’s hands for over two months, and of all the bad news that could have been delivered, these are pretty minor fixes. The Calendar and Reminders merely read directly from Apple’s apps, and our team was not “in love” with them anyways. So removing these functions is not as bad as removing other functionality would have been. The change may actually make Taposé more visually appealing. The new Control Hub can be seen below.
Apple has agreed to provide Team Taposé with a quick yes/no/maybe once resubmitted, although the formal approval will likely go through management since the previous review was escalated to such a high level. Hopefully these changes satisfy Apple’s review team and managers so that Tapose can get into users hands. Additionally, our team has not yet been able to improve Taposé as planned due to being in limbo. The team is excited to start on further updates as soon as possible.
Let us know what you think of the fix and feel free to provide alternatives.
3 months into the itunes process I think it’s time you start updating us a bit more often. Even if it’s just a quick drop in to the comments of this post to say “submitted the app” “still no response”… At least we know someone’s alive out there
Ok we are 1 week away from the iPad 3 reveal so you can tell us…
Has Tapose been selected as one of the event demo apps?
We won’t tell anyone, we promise.
Hey guys…lets leave Benjamin and the team alone. I’m sure that they are more than upset and frustrated with the Apple review process. It is their product that they are trying to have reviewed and submitted to the App store.
Rather than bombard the forums with questions about updates why not email Apple and ask them for updates. Im sure Tim Cook will be moved to do something if he started recieving daily emaisl asking for updates!
Ben and Team I truely hope this moves quickly for you the app looks great and it would be a shame to see it delayed longer.
I check in on this blog from time to time and have followed the thread about Apple’s review. So… it’s unclear to me, has this app been resubmitted to Apple for review?
Odds of Tapose receiving a response from Apple today: 100,000:1
Odds of Apple unveiling something tomorrow with significant feature overlap: 2:1
Annotation, journals, calendar, geotagging and calendar sync with exif data, all in iphoto. I hope this is not what the holdup is with tapose. However, if they include a journal API in the updated iOS, with native cloud and tie-in to the iOS… or have plans to do so, I fully expect tapose to be dead on the iPad.
Hello, pls wat’s the holdup? Tell us! 7-march has come and gone…….still nothing.
Sorry, this has been out of our hands for three months. Would help more if you emailing Apple for updates. Our hands are tied.
Did you resubmit the app with the changes? If so, when? have you had any word from them after that point?
Haha…. we could try a DOS on them…. hack the corp webpage to show a Taposé screen and hack the iTunes store so that everytime someone clicks on an app he/she is redirected to this site….
Seriously: WHO can we email to try to elicit some kind of constructive response?
Thx
Paul
Hi,
Are you guys planning to update the beta app to work on the iPad 3? Just tried to install, but needs an update. Or just going to wait for the release?
